Ato Semere was elected as a Member of the Bank’s Board of Directors by the General Assembly during the Shareholders meeting that was held in November 2023.

He is a seasoned lawyer with over 28 years of experience in the justice system. In his professional life, he has been working as a public prosecutor, regional supreme court Judge, and advocate in all federal courts, and academician.

He has got a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) (with Distinction) from Addis Ababa University Faculty of Law. Moreover, he has received various certificates of training from different institutes such as Liverpool Jon Moors University Business school and University of Amsterdam Law faculty.
